Lotus has unveiled today the first official details and images with their upcoming Lotus Elite, a stunning convertible supercar that’s going to impress everyone in 2014. The 2014 Lotus Elite tries to redefine the modern classic with its beautiful and aggressive styling and apart from the right looks, this supercar will also be a great piece of engineering.

This hard top convertible will be powered by a powerful 5.0L V8 engine with 612 horsepower and 720 Nm of torque that’s going to take the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 to 3.7 seconds and to a breathtaking top speed of 315 km/h. The official performance figures are still pending but Lotus claims they’re really close to these figures.

The most important part is that the Elite will be also offered as a hybrid with a hybrid gearbox with integrated electric motors and a Kinetic Energy Recovery System. Even though there are only few details available about the hybrid version of this supercar, Lotus announced it will have a CO2 emissions level of 215 g/km.

Dany Bahar, the CEO of Lotus, declared that the Elite “it’s a car of perfect contradictions, it’s compact yet spacious, high performing yet low emitting, lightweight yet still reassuringly solid. It’s a car that we are exceptionally proud of at Lotus and we truly believe that there is nothing else like it out there both in terms of styling and performance.”

The 2014 Lotus Elite will be released on the market only in the first months of 2014 and will have a starting price of f £115,000 including a VAT of 17.5%.
