Forgive my pessimism, but I cannot see any clear blue skies and crystal-clear horizons in sight any time soon. But the brilliant team behind Columbus Yachts has a different way of seeing things, adding a touch of optimism to an otherwise gloomy period of our lives. The Italian shipyard has extended its Classic line of blue water cruising motor yachts with the addition of the new Columbus Classic 50 yacht.

Aside from its stunning 80-meter, 100-meter, and 120-meter vessels, Columbus Yachts’ lineup now includes the wonderful sub-500 GT, 50-meter steel and aluminum concept you see before you. Designed by Hydro Tec’s Sergio Cutolo, this yacht is clearly showing off some very familiar lines and angles.

The Columbus Classic 50 has a simple layout, with three exterior decks on offer, as well as a spacious beach club at the stern, where one might enjoy the functional swim platform that reveals itself.

Customers will get a few more goodies, including a swimming pool on the sundeck along with a bar area and outdoor dining space – but you are encouraged to personalize your vessel.

On the inside, a four-cabin layout was designed to cater to owners and passengers alike. Sure, we all know who gets to sleep in the master suite on the main deck, but the full-beam VIP cabin is up for grabs and the smaller cabins are equally nice.

Otherwise, there are two lounges on the main and upper deck aft areas, leading towards an outdoor social and dining area – does anyone remember socializing?

The hull design of the Columbus Classic 50 makes her an ideal long-range cruiser, especially considering the flared bow and underwater efficiency that was carefully analyzed by Columbus engineers before putting this yacht to water.

Bragging about a range of more than 4,000 nautical miles and a decent cruising speed of 14 knots, this superb vessel has plenty of reasons to make us daydream about good times on water in the near future.
