The New York Auto Show is well underway, and one of the more remarkable new models put there on display is the Subaru BRZ STI Performance concept.
It comes with a tuned EJ20 horizontally-opposed 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo racing engine, which can be currently seen in the brand’s GT race in Japan. The vehicle also features Subaru Tecnica International (STI) technologies and components, among them the suspension and brake upgrades. Its exterior is sporty and dynamic, perfectly in tune with its remarkable performance features.
The unveiling of Subaru’s BRZ STI Performance concept signals the Japanese carmaker’s plans to expand STI to the US, predominantly in three business areas: aftermarket parts, complete cars, and motorsports. This is also the start of the ‘Prominence 2020’ initiative, which intends to greatly boost sales in the US and worldwide by the year 2020. In any case, if the goal was to make waves, both the car and the setting couldn’t have been better.
