The island of St. Barths is known as a haven for the jet set, and now watch aficionados with deep pockets can carry around a bit of the place on their wrists thanks to this new timepiece by HYT.
What makes this item so special is its polyepoxyde case, a material which is seven times lighter than stainless steel and four times as light as titanium, while also being three times sturdier. And this isn’t even the most remarkable thing about it! What’s truly neat about the 48.8mm case is the fact that it’s infused with sand from Anse du Gouverneur beach, so in a sense the wearer is always connected to this enchanting place in the Caribbean.
Returning to the more mundane aspects of the piece, the movement is the Swiss hand-wind HYT in-house caliber 101 with 35 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 65 hours. The crystal is an AR-coated sapphire, it has a sapphire display back, while the bridges are hand-chamfered, with rhodiumed bellows and adorned with the Côtes de Genève seal. Finally, the watch comes on a black or white rubberized alligator strap with blue stitching and a titanium deployant buckle.
The HYT H1 Sand Barth was released as a highly-exclusive limited edition comprising just 25 timepieces, each priced at CHF 65,000 (the equivalent of about $67,600).
