Japanese consumer electronics giant Sharp is looking to make an impression in the highly competitive smartphone market with the eye-catching new Aquous Crystal.
Most mobile phones today come with bezels which are more or less symmetrical above and below the screen (the parts of the device where the microphone, speakers, and front camera are located). The Aquous Crystal brings us one step closer to an edge-to-edge screen smartphone, as it only has a bezel on its lower end.
In addition to this cool feature, Sharp’s new release also has some pretty decent technical specs. Running on Android KitKat, Aquous Crystal features a 5-inch screen with 720p resolution, while “under the hood” there’s a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1.5GB of RAM, and 8GB of storage (which can be expanded with microSD cards).
Announced and launched in Japan in August, the sleek Aquos Crystal smartphone by Sharp is available in the U.S. starting today (October 17th) from Boost Mobile and Sprint Prepaid (through Best Buy), and can be had for as low as $149.99 off-contract.
