The island of Capri, located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the coast of Naples, has been a popular resort since the times of the Roman Empire. The emperor Tiberius enjoyed the place so much he spent the last ten years of his life on the island, building a dozen villas there. It’s not hard to imagine why someone would want to move here and never leave, especially if you’re living in an imperial palace – or a mansion like the one we are about to showcase here.
The property is built above the Villa Palatium, whose ruins can still be seen today. From its terrace, owners and their guests can enjoy breathtaking views of the Sorrento Coast, the Bay of Naples, and even the majestic Mount Vesuvius. The nine-bedroom villa is all about privacy, with its secluded location and very own beach, however its gardens and reception rooms can be also be the setting for great social gatherings. After all, it would be a shame not to share all this splendor with one’s friends.
Unfortunately, you’d have to have the funds of a Roman emperor to actually afford this magnificent estate, as it comes with a staggering price tag of $40 million.
