The first images of the new McLaren 650S have just recently surfaced, accompanied by some preliminary details gathered from a private presentation of the model.

Last week McLaren released a teaser for the 650S, along with some information about this model which sits somewhere between the entry-level 12C and the top of the range P1. Former Formula 1 champion and current McLaren driver helped the British manufacturer with the development of the 650S, whose twin-turbo V8 3.8-liter engine delivers 650 hp.

Details about the vehicle’s suspension, aerodynamics, brakes, transmission and tires have also been revealed, which seem to suggest they are all upgraded versions of what the 12C has. This means the latter will probably be replaced by the 650S, given the many similarities between the two. When it comes to the external appearance, the 650S has the front fascia of the P1 and the back of the 12C.

The new model will be officially unveiled by McLaren at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
