Maximilian Büsser and his friends are celebrating in style, and there’s no surprise there. But his company, MB&F, decided to let others in on their excitement, so instead of expecting gifts for the 10th anniversary of the independent watchmaker, he offered supporters and investors a pretty impressive gift: the HMX Watch.

The MB&F HMX is set to cost CHF 29,000 Swiss Francs, representing the most affordable MB&F watch ever made. Engraved at the back, the motto “A Creative Adult Is A Child Who Survived” perfectly reveals the character and joyful spirit of a watchmaker who once dreamed of becoming a car designer.

The latest Horological Machine, named X after the Roman numeral for 10, is yet another auto-inspired MB&F. A driver’s watch with the time displayed on the side, thanks to two sapphire crystal optical prisms that “project” the time onto the front vertical display, should get anyone impressed.

The HMX draws inspiration from the distinctive Superleggera style of renowned Italian coachbuilder Carrozzeria Touring. A curved and streamlined titanium case protects the watch, which features a large sapphire opening to show its super engine as well as dual “rocker covers” each featuring shiny chrome oil filler caps.

The oil caps, aside from being aesthetically pleasing, are fully functional oil for helping the bejeweled bearings for the indication discs function properly.

The MB&F HMX also features a bi-directional jumping hours and trailing minutes, wonderfully displayed by two sapphire crystal optical prisms. Light streaming through the transparent engine allows a superb illumination and backlights the time display for higher legibility.

A touch of color finishes off these fine machines, resulting in four limited editions of 20 pieces in Lotus Black, Ferrari Red, Bugatti Blue or British Racing Green.
