On the occasion of their 100 year celebration, the famous Martell Cognac brand has released a limited edition of their precious high-quality booze, the Cordon Bleu Centenary. The edition features the centenary’s visual code, the infinity sign, also representing the number 100.
The cognac is also available as a special edition in a wooden gift-box trimmed with silver and opened via a magnetite-based system. The box features engravings that relate historical data about Martell Cordon Bleu plus 100 silver metallic squares to honor the event. It contains “montre” bottle that sports a selection of 100% Borderies cognac specially blended by Benoit Fil, the cellar master of Martell, plus a blue-lacquered and silver flacon of the fabled cognac.
Martell has done an intricate selection from their 6 crus, picking these four: Grande Champagne, Borderies, Fins Bois and Petite Champagne. Representing only five percent of the entire Charente vineyard, the veritable signature of the House cognacs is the Borderies.
The taste of this specific liquor is smooth and round, with floral aromas that, in time, get to resemble sweet spices and candied fruit. Furthermore, the combination of the intensity and structure of the Grande and Petite Champagne, plus the light, fruity aroma of the Fins Bois eaux-de-vie, result in a flavored amalgam that will surely entice enthusiasts.
Its smell reminds of immense complexity and lively aromas – notes of mocha, grilled almonds, cinnamon, beeswax, vetiver, plum, apple, aromas of candied orange and honey. The taste is round, quite mellow, highlighted by the exquisite Borderies, plus candied orange, cinnamon and spicy plum fragrances.
The bottles come decorated with a deep, carved golden copper hue, in limited edition. Check their website for more info regarding their exquisite boozes. Just make sure you’re over 18.
