With this year’s FIFA World Cup fast approaching, Hublot has just unveiled the official 2014 FIFA World Cup watch: the Big Bang Unico Bi-retrograde Chrono. The new automatic HUB1260 caliber is a bi-retrograde movement with central chrono made up of 385 components, and this is the first time it has even been used.
This timepiece works in quite an interesting way. When the chronograph is started, the chrono’s two retrograde hands clock seconds and minutes for each 45-minute half of a soccer match, with another 15-minute area for extra time. There’s also a central dial showing which half is being timed. Also, for those who actually want to use the piece for timekeeping in real life, there’s a smaller dial at 6 o’clock.
The Hublot Big Bang Unico Bi-retrograde Chrono is a limited edition, with just 200 black ceramic and 100 gold pieces being produced.
