Garelli Motorcycles is one of the most renowned motorcycling brands in history, founded back in 1919 by an enthusiastic Italian named Alberto Garelli. The brand has been mentioned ever since in all sorts of contexts, from mopeds and motorcycles manufacture to racing, in close connection to other fabled individuals like Ernesto Gnesa, Achille Varzi and Tazio Nuvolari.
In fact, the brand has dominated the 125cc class in Grand Prix motorcycle racing during the 1980s, having won a staggering 6 world championships between 1982 and 1987.
The main reason behind the article which we’re anxiously writing now is that the Garelli Grand Prix Collection, comprising around 24 historic racing motorcycles, many of them having been manufactured during the brand’s prosperity period in the 1980s, a fine selection of historic motorcycles dating back years before the Second World War and a few world record holding bikes ridden by legendary names are now being offered at no reserve at a Bonhams auction due to be taking place during the early days of February 2013, at the Grand Palais, in Paris.
The entire collection of motorcycles has been kept by its current owner within a private chapel and is now ready to be sold at no reserve. Two of the most impressive highlights of this sale would be the world breaking 1963 Garelli 50 cc Monza, which is expected to sell for anything between $64,740 and $90,640, and the ex-Tazio Nuvolari Garelli 1923 350 cc motorcycle used by the famous Italian rider to win the 350 cc European Championship back in 1925. This celebrity is known by many as “the greatest driver of the past, the present and the future.”
