If your skin gets goose-bumps whenever you hear of Aladdin and his lamp, we’ve got something for you. Somewhere in Ohio, in a huge multi-level master suite, we’ve found a gorgeously themed home theater.

Shane Horner of Horner Networks describes the challenge of putting it together as “it was definitely unique – we’d never done anything like that before.” Jeff Knezevich of Amazing Design and Shelley Lutz of Lutz Décor have taken care of every automation- and A/V-related issues. They said “It was fun trying to figure it all out. The shape and construction were definitely obstacles to overcome.” Needless to mention, the room is weirdly shaped like a bottle.

Furthermore, the curved walls were a total contraindication for any two-piece projection system; therefore a 65-inch Sony flat-panel LED TV was mounted. Horner further explains: “Plus you’ve got that big chandelier right in the middle that would have interfered. Doing rear projection would have been an option, but there wasn’t enough depth to put in mirrors (behind the screen wall, used to reflect projected images correctly) to make that happen, so a flat panel was the best option for that space, and it’s plenty big for where they are.”

The layout and design of the room weren’t at all ideal for surround sound purposes, but the problems were masterfully addressed to. As the builder was pouring concrete for the room, there were speaker molds fitted through the place around which the concrete was poured. This would form cubby holes which were filled by Horner with a full Triad Speakers surround-sound system. The 7.3-channel configuration includes three Triad Inwall Silver 6 LCR speakers as front channels, 4 Inwall Silver 4 surrounds and three Inroom Platinum Power subwoofers. “Placing the speakers and trying to get it to sound as best as possible was a challenge. The walls are framed in plaster, but there’s a lot of fabric in the room and curtains, seating, carpeted floor to help with sound absorption. We also did what we could to help by running Audyssey Pro.”

In addition to the state of the art surround sound system, the genie theme was further enhanced by intricate fiber-optic lighting, backlights which make the room’s gold and purple accents glitter when turned on, gorgeous crystal chandeliers, exquisite upholstery and velvety curtains. They’re even thinking to fit in a lifting system for the TV – “There’s talk of putting it on a lift to take it from down here. There’s a spot reserved for a TV up there.”
