Interesting launch from Ford – they’ve presented a road legal race car powered by an EcoBoost 1.0-liter petrol engine. The respective model is actually used in Formula Ford during races, where is has had the honor of setting a lap record to the Nürbürgring, of a whopping 7 minutes and 22 seconds.
This simply means one thing – the car was faster on the circuit than a plethora of supercars, with more than 600 HP, like the Ferrari Enzo, Pagani Zonda or the Aventador. Given the fact that the Formula Ford 1.0-liter EcoBoost achieved such incredible performance, this is quite an achievement for the small 3 cylinder motor, awarded with the 2012 “International Engine of the Year”.
It develops 205 HP and propels the vehicle from 0 to 62 mph in less than 4 seconds, up to a top speed of 255.5 km/h (158.8 mph). A superb feat of strength is the incredibly low fuel consumption level, of just 2.4 l/100 km or 118 mpg at 56 km/h (35 mph) and 5 l/100 km (57 mpg) at 120 km/h (75 mph).
