Ducati has showcased for the first time at the Frankfurt Auto Show the brand new Ducati 899 Panigale, the little brother of the 1199 Panigale, which was meant to be a more accessible superbike. The 899 is very similar to its big brother, but it also comes with a couple of key differences that make it a lot cheaper.
The engine of the Ducati 899 Panigale is slightly less powerful, with the Superquadro two cylinder unit being able to produce 148 HP and 73 pound-feet of torque. It also comes with a reduced bore and stroke of 100 mm x 57.2 mm compared to the 112 mm x 60.8 mm of the 1199 Panigale.
The new superbike from Ducati features a more conventional, dual sided swingarm and it still has an impressive power to weight ratio of 2.9 pounds per horsepower. It also comes with great electronic aides like the triple stage anti lock brakes, electronic throttle control, Ducati Tranction Control, Engine Brake Control and Ducati Quick Shift.
We don’t know anything about pricing yet, but we can only guess it’s going to be slightly cheaper than the Ducati 1199 Panigale. Looks nice for sure!
