Back in 2009, Swiss watchmaker Frederique Constant has started a longstanding partnership with the Riva Historical Society, a non-profit organization, founded by architect Piero Maria Gibellini along with engineer Carlo Riva, which aims to preserve still-existing Riva boats.
To put it simply, the goal of this charitable group is to help owners conserve these beautiful vessels in the best possible way. This unique partnership has inspired Frederique Constant to design every year a limited run, nautical-inspired timepiece, meant to commemorate these runabout boats, and this year we’re dealing with a limited series of 2,888 units.
Called the Frederique Constant Runabout, this timepiece features a stainless steel or steel rose gold PVD 43 mm case, with a sapphire crystal and also a sapphire display back featuring the flag of the Riva Historical Society etched unto it. In case you’d like to dive with this watch, you should know it’s capable of handling 30-meter deep waters.
Movement is provided by the Swiss automatic Frederique Constant caliber FC-303, which means 25 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of about 42 hours. Aesthetics benefit from a silver or brown dial, complemented by a guilloche decoration, Arabic numeral markers, and luminous hands and indices.
A black or brown leather strap, with a steel or steel rose gold PVD buckle, finishes off the gorgeous watch, that will be delivered to you with a special gift box, along with a miniature wooden powerboat reminiscent of the 1920s.
