A new exciting car has been recently unveiled by the British automaker Caterham, the Supersport R. The base of this stunning 4-wheeler is the Caterham Supersport, but the R is way better in both performance and looks.
The Caterham Supersport R sport a limited slip differential, a suspension especially tuned for the track, with sports dampers and race springs, and Avon CR500 rubbers. In addition, Caterham specialists mounted a gear shift indicator, composite race seats with 4-point harnesses and a state of the art steering wheel.
As it comes to power, the Supersport R is propelled by a 2.0-liter Ford Duratec engine delivering 180 HP (134 kW) and 143 lb-ft (194 Nm) of torque. This is in fact an increase of 40 HP (30 kW) and 31 Nm (23 lb-ft) in comparison to the Supersport model. The power plant is tied to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission, enabling the sports car to accelerate from naught to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.8 seconds, up to a maximum speed of 130 mph (209 km/h). Worth mentioning, the vehicle weighs a stunning 535 kg (1,179 lbs).
Graham McDonald, the CEO of Caterham, explains: “The Supersport’s formula has struck a chord with driving enthusiasts and we are confident that, by extending the range to include an R model, we will be able to build on the original’s success.” The fully built version of Caterham Supersport R is available for purchase at £27,995, while the kit is priced at a lower £24,995.
