With the 18k rose gold version already released last year, Breguet has announced a new Classique Tourbillon Extra-Thin Automatic model, this time in platinum. Its platinum case measures 42mm by 7mm, while the dial is in 18k gold (which is silvered), and the timepiece is water resistant to 30m.
The dial features four engine-turned patterns: 1) a hobnail pattern for the hours and minutes chapter; 2) a barleycorn surround; 3) a straight chevron pattern for the power-reserve indicator at 8:30; and 4) cross-hatching to outline each feature.
The off-center tourbillon movement has a patented titanium cage, with a silicon balance spring and an escapement also made from silicon, as well as anti-magnetic steel. At the the center of the tourbillon bridge there is a blue sapphire. The in-house automatic caliber beats at 4 Hz, which is high for a tourbillion, which means the movement also consumes more energy.
Breguet has solved the problem with a patented ‘high-energy’ spring barrel, giving the watch a running time of 90 hours.
