The Breakers Hotel is widely regarded as one of the best places to stay in Palm Beach, but is also something of an attraction in-and-of itself. Located at One South County Road, it’s just 15 minutes drive time away from Palm Beach International Airport, meaning it can be your first and only destination when you decide to visit the Sunshine State of Florida.
Built on the beachfront by oil and railroad tycoon Henry Flagler in 1896, it was initially known as The Palm Beach Inn, but had its name changed after a few years after guests kept referring to it as the hotel “over by the breakers”. The original building was destroyed by fire in 1925, but Flagler’s heirs decided to rebuild it, with the new 550-room hotel modeled after the Villa Medici, in Rome.
In addition to offering its guests a little part of history, The Breakers also features 10 excellent restaurants, two golf courses, as well as swimming pools, spa and fitness facilities. There’s also a small army of 1,800 staff members ready to ensure every second of your stay is absolutely perfect.
