As Japanese car makers go through extensive redesigning and reconfiguration processes for their top models, Subaru has already come up with a car that’s both extremely fast and gorgeous to look at. In store as the next generation WRX, this Concept car was unveiled on the occasion of the New York International Auto Show.
The project boasts a 4-door coupé design with aggressive-looking parts, just as we’d expect from a Subaru WRX. It also boasts a bump on the hood, prominent rear diffuser and broad wheel arches that provide enough mounting space to a set of 20-inch forged alloys wrapped in 245/40ZR20 Dunlop tires.
The car measures 4,521 mm in length (178 inches), 1,889 mm in width (74.4 inches) and 1,389 mm in height (54.7 mm) – this means the concept is a bit shorter, wider and lower than the Subaru Impreza Mk4 Sedan. The wheelbase is quite a lot longer though, measuring 2,644 mm in width.
According to Subaru officials, the pronounced bump “provides clearance for the new turbocharged engine and intercooler.” They’ve also described: “to further improve handling dynamics, the Subaru WRX Concept features a carbon-fiber roof to enhance the already low center of gravity and reduce weight.” Stay tuned for more from Subaru!
