Sir Anish Kapoor, the well known British-Indian artist and sculptor, has joined forces with the watchmakers from MCT to add his magical touch to this Vantablack version of the company’s signature Sequential One timepiece, turning this excellent watch into a functional work of art.
The Sequential One S110 Evo Vantablack represents an authentic scientific revolution, composed of carbon nanotubes measuring one millionth of a millimeter thick and able to absorb 99.965 per cent of the light they receive. Although it was originally developed for the military and aerospace industry, Vantablack went on to impress Anish Kapoor, who was charmed by the dark material and its unique characteristics.
The designers from MCT worked together with Anish Kapoor for several months to make things happen, with the end result featuring a superb back dial, with Vantablack’s movement appearing as if it’s floating in mid-air as a small moon makes its way around the dial.
The Sequential One S110 Evo Vantablack shows off a 45 mm grade 5 titanium case, with a dark DLC treatment, while the existing caliber MCT-S1.0 was chosen for the project, that beats at 2.5Hz, and comprises 471 components, 81 jewels, with 50 hours worth of power reserve.
Part of a limited series of only 10 pieces, each of these precious watches will benefit from Anish Kapoor’s signature.
