After unveiling a couple of exquisite pieces of timekeeping, Angular Momentum, from Switzerland, are now presenting a timepiece entirely crafted from Zirconium, together with Manu Propria. The exquisite piece radiates beauty through the material it was crafted from, of grayish white tones, glossy and similar to titanium.
It becomes highly resistant to corrosion over time thanks to the extremely high affinity of Zirconium towards oxygen, resulting in a protective oxide film. Zirconium 702 was used for the movement holder, crown, case and dial, while the mechanical part consists of an ancient hand-winding movement caliber FHF 96.
The gadget boasts with black printed numbers on the dial, a case that measures 38 mm in diameter, 9 mm in height and blue hands which contrast beautifully with the other parts of the watch. Compared to stainless steel, Zirconium appears to be a bit lighter but a lot heavier. It’s softer than stainless steel, but highly resistant towards salt water, acids, alkalis and more.
In addition, those who enjoy aerospace technology will definitely know that Zirconium is extensively used in the respective field because of its high heat resistance. We’re now waiting for a few more details, like prices and availability, where applicable. There’re some photos, though, for you to check out.
