It takes a very special class of people to fancy homes like the one we’re going to feature right now. Obviously not aimed towards bashful people and those who enjoy privacy, glass homes are currently an expanding concept.
The residence you are able to admire in the following photos, designed by Ennio Arosio and put together by the fabled architect Carlo Santambrogio, will require an owner with big pockets, broad bank accounts and a strong heart.
As we’ve written afore, this is still a conceptual project, all the images are merely a representation of the artist’s ideas of a glass house. The main aim of this particular project, though, is to promote the Simplicity, Santambrogio’s range of glass furniture, considering that many such pieces can be placed inside this type of home.
Although it is still a concept, it can actually be bought and constructed by manufacturers for those who fancy such residences and visit Santambrogio’s showrooms in New York, Milan and London. The price is somewhere around £4,000 or $6,200 per square meter, but the main concern may just be finding a suitable spot to place one of these.
Although this building is quite promising, there are a few problems to it. For example, how thermally efficient or inefficient is it? What is to be done with the elements we don’t usually like to see, like plumbing, sewerage and trash? How will it be able to face rough natural elements and weather?
It’s not appropriate to ask such questions, though. Choosing to own such a construction will definitely have its disadvantages, like taking a bath without any sort of privacy, doing your daily, natural stuff in plain eyesight or being watched by curious individuals or paparazzi. All these remain to be seen, as this is something for people who got absolutely nothing to hide.
