You might want to put on your shades when wearing this watch, because this dazzling piece, called the Blancpain Tourbillon Diamants, boasts a remarkably large number of gemstones set in a very usual fashion.
The extraordinary fully gem-set timepiece comes with a 40 mm white gold case, with the self-winding caliber 25A and a movement with tourbillion which has power reserves to last for 7 days. But what’s truly special about it is the large number of exquisite baguette diamonds – no fewer than 480!
Usually when you see such an abundance of gemstones the artisans who work on the piece include several cuts of diamond, but in this case they have decided to go with just the baguette cut. This is, as the people over at Blanpain have rightly noted, an amazing achievement in and of itself, as setting a round watch entirely with baguette-cut diamonds is an unprecedented feat. Since it would have been a lot easier to set round-cut diamonds on the round dial, the option chosen by Blancpain comes off as a display of great craftsmanship, something which ideally complements this very valuable timepiece.
