Produced in a limited run of just 88 pieces, the new U-BOAT Chimera 46 Skeleton watch is already a desirable piece in my mind. It comes with a blackened stainless steel case, measuring 46 mm and featuring double sapphire crystals and a side window, looking just like the perfect gift.
My birthday is still a long way form today, but it’s worth making a wish list and checking it twice, right? The bezel and the back of the case of this timepiece are beautifully locked together, thus ensuring water resistance at depths of up to 100 meters. And if you think the over-sized crown looks bulky, it just seems to keep in line with the current retro trends.
An innovative sculpted pusher was designed to eject the inner-crown from its recessed position, making it really easy to adjust the date and time. Movement is provided by the Swiss automatic U-BOAT caliber U-77, skeletonized Top Soignè, that’s as impressive as the unique look of this watch.
Modified and personalized to U-BOAT specifications, the Chimera 46 now shows off black screws and a personalized rotor in sterling silver with three bridges and 3 blued screws. The hand made and hand finished black leather strap, with a blackened buckle, adds to the overall charm of this watch and tries to make up for that $13,700 price-tag.
