Limited to only 1 piece per year, the Lange 1 Time Zone Como Edition is specifically crafted for the “Best of Show” winner at the renowned Concorso d’Eleganza from Villa d’Este, which means this beautiful timepiece is not really for sale.
The iconic competition takes place every year in May, at the splendid Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como, and focuses the beauty and elegance of classic automobiles. Talk about exclusivity! A. Lange & Söhne has been sponsoring the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este since 2012, and their one-of-a-kind “Como Edition” is more than worthy to be associated with the aforementioned event.
The Lange 1 Time Zone impresses us all with a hand-engraved, hinged dust cover in white gold on the movement side. The free-hand engraving pays homage to the competition, with the event’s name inscribed on the watch as a tribute to its amazing history.
Showing off an 18kt white gold case, this watch also benefits from a sapphire crystal and an engraved cuvette caseback. Movement is provided by the German manual-wind Lange in-house caliber L031.1, which means 54 jewels, 21,600 vph and a power reserve of 72 hours.
Decorated and assembled by hand, and benefiting from untreated German silver, the Lange 1 Time Zone features four screwed gold chatons, a lever escapement, a shock-resistant screw balance, plus a whiplash precision index adjuster with patented beat adjustment mechanism.
The Como Edition comes with a solid silver dial, while the hands are rhodiumed gold; the finishing touch is represented by a black hand-stitched alligator leather strap, with an 18kt white gold buckle. It seems winning is everything, after all!
