Porsche 718 Boxster

Porsche has just unleashed their new 718 Boxster and Boxter S upon the competition. Instantly recognizable, the new 718 models show off a more aggressive front fascia compared to their predecessor, with larger air intakes and new bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights.

Other visual upgrades include revised side skirts, larger side air intakes and new door handles, while at the back three-dimensional LED taillights and a new accent strip with Porsche lettering take their rightful place upon the stylish bodywork of this supercar.

Inside the cabin, there are no big surprises: the interior styling largely carries over, although the dashboard has been slightly updated, featuring circular air vents now. Drivers will probably appreciate the new steering wheel and the updated Porsche Communication Management system.

Now, let’s talk a bit about the technical part: the entry-level 718 Boxster comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat four engine, developing an astounding 300 hp and 280 pound-feet of torque. Although smaller than the previous 2.7-liter flat six, this engine brags with 35 hp and 74 lb-ft more.

Customers who want more speed will surely enjoy the 718 Boxster S, with a turbocharged 2.5-liter flat four engine, developing 350 hp and 309 lb-ft of torque.

The PDK transmission working alongside the Sport Chrono Package allow the new Porsche 718 Boxster to do 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 mph, while the 718 Boxster S needs only 4.0 seconds to get to 60 mph and it’s able to top out at 177 mph.

Even more interesting, the new Boxster models are more fuel efficient than before, their fuel consumption being improved by 13%. Already up for the grabs, the new Porsche 718 Boxster will cost you between $56,000, for the standard model, and $68,400, for the Boxster S version.
