Jaguar to Release Limited Edition F-Type Project 7 Supercar

Jaguar has announced the release of The F-Type Project 7, the first vehicle to be produced by its Special Vehicle Operations team. The car was first showcased during last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and was once again put on display at the same event this June 26.

The British carmaker didn’t tinker too much with the design of the original concept, the only notable addition being that of a second seat. The new model features the same roadster body reminiscent of the Jaguar D-Type, three-time winner of the Le Mans 24-hour race, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The name Project 7 itself hints at the number of times Jaguar has won at Le Mans, which is, of course, seven.

According to the manufacturer, the F-Type Project 7 is the fastest, most powerful Jaguar ever built (which is quite an impressive feat). It is powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine which outputs 567hp and 501 lbs-ft of torque. Thanks to its all-aluminum body, the car only weighs 3,494 lbs, which means it can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds, on its way to an electronically-limited top speed of 186 mph. All this power is sent to the rear wheels through an 8-speed Quickshift transmission and second generation Electronic Active Differential (EAD).

The F-Type Project 7 is fully road legal and will be released as a 250-item limited edition.
