We’ve got something exclusive for collectors and fans of the famous character James Bond, Ian Fleming’s Casino Royale book – first edition. is on sale for £50,000 ($78,000). The book was the main source of inspiration for the most recent James Bond movie.
A very rare, hardbound book, it’s a mind-blower even today, considering it is around 60 years old. The wrapper is unrestored and there’s absolutely no foreign inscription inside. A good thing is that the wrapper is not price clipped, has no chips and no sunning to the spine – which means it’s almost in tip top shape. It sports a drawing that resembles a playing card, Ian Fleming’s own creation. It bears almost no defects and boasts with a custom-made clamshell box.
It’s simply one of those books that will raise 4 or even 5 digit numbers at auctions. And, above all, being unrestored is the best thing so far, as this increases its value by an absolutely huge level. This particular edition was published by Jonathan Cape in UK, in April 1953, in a limited 4,728 copies. Vintage Seekers asks $78,000 (£50,000) for the book.
