Audi has finally unveiled the Prologue concept, a design expected to be a sign of the direction the German company will take in the styling department.
The classy coupe is slightly shorter than the A8 and comes with a wide single frame grille, flanked by Matrix laser lights and air vents with diamond pattern inserts, which placed lower than the company’s current production models. The vehicle has an aggressive, yet elegant air about it, with its sculpted hood and chiseled body work, while its wide fenders house 22-inch alloy wheels. The usual door handles have been replaced with electromagnetically-operated doors which open when touched – another cool feature borrowed by the Prologue from the future.
The four-seat interior, on the other hand, boasts high-end materials including premium leather upholstery, aluminum trim and elm wood veneers, and is filled with state-of-the-art gadgets and technologies. There’s a digital instrument cluster, touchscreens for both the driver and the front passenger, and perhaps most interesting of all, a system which recognizes the driver by their cell phone and automatically adjusts the seat, climate, radio, and navigation according to their preferences.
The Prologue concept car was also fitted by Audi with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter TFSI V8 engine which outputs 605 PS (445 kW) and 750 Nm (553lb-ft) of torque. The powerplant is mated to an eight-speed tiptronic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive, enabling the vehicle to go from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a very respectable 3.7 seconds.
