Prominent Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari has unveiled the 458 Speciale Aperta, a move that follows the recent revealing of a series of leaked photos.

The most powerful open-top model ever made by the company (aperta is Italian for open), the new model will come with a retractable hard top that needs 14 seconds to open or close. The new roof, made from aluminum, only adds another 110 lbs (50 kilos) to the standard 459 Speciale’s weight, which means the vehicle tips the scales at 2,954 lbs (1,340 kg).

The car is powered by a V8 4.5-liter naturally-aspirated engine outputting 605 hp (445 kW) at 9,000 rpm and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque at 6,000 rpm. This allows it to go from a standstill to 62 mph in just 3 seconds, while acceleration from 0 to 124 mph takes 9.5 seconds. No word from the manufacturer regarding the car’s top speed, but the figure is expected to be somewhere around the coupe’s 202 mph (325 km/h), perhaps a bit lower.

Touted as “the most aerodynamically efficient Ferrari spider ever” and presented in a bespoke triple-layer yellow livery with a Blu Nart and Bianco Avus central stripe, the 458 Aperta rides on Grigio Corsa five-spoke forged wheels, while the interior features a blue carbon fiber dashboard and door panels. The seats, on the other hand, have been wrapped around in Alcantara with 3D stitching and 3D technical fabric.

The Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta will be showcased at the beginning of October during the Paris Motor Show. The release will be limited to 499 units.
