One of the most recognizable watches in the world, Corum’s Golden Bridge watch has received a brand new look in a black ceramic case, hence the name – Golden Bridge Black Ceramic Case. To encase crystals in the ceramic case, crystals were injected to a pressurized mold. Then the ceramic material was uniformly spread by hand in a furnace at 320 degrees to harden, a process which causes the material to shrink in volume and reach the appropriate size to encase the crystal.
The Corum Golden Bridge mechanism was first created back in 1980, when it made a major milestone in high-watchmaking thanks to its vertical-axis construction. Here it lines up with the crown, positioned at 6 o’clock, which makes it look like a genuine component of the hand-wound CO 113 movement.
The movement is beating at a frequency of (28,800 vibrations per hour, providing about 40 hours of power reserve. It also features two pillars visible on the bridges, which ar adding to the rigidity of the movement and, finally, its greater precision. The upper bridge is made from 18-carat red gold and it features the hand-engraved Corum signature.
The surrounding motif is inspired by the three types of fern, growing in the forests of Corum’s home – La Chaux-de-Fonds. The golden mainplate also features delicate engravings, while the baton-type hands seem like they are flying freely across the airy transparency of watch face.
The Corum Golden Bridge Black Ceramic also comes with a black alligator leather strap, which is fastened to the wrist with a black PVD-coated pin buckle.
