The Aeroboat, which you can thirstily enjoy in the following gallery, is one of the latest projects to be attended by UK-based designers Claydon Reeves. It’s not a speedboat as it may seem, it is in fact a miniature yacht with absolutely great looks and high performance.
They’ve managed to create a gorgeous exterior with design cues from the Spitfire, one of the signature fighter planes of the Second World War. Measuring 14.64 meters from bow to stern, the Aeroboat is powered by a Rolls Royce Merlin engine, with an output of between 1,100 HP and 2,500 HP. The Merlin V12 engine was in fact designed and developed around 80 years ago and yes, it used to be mounted, among many other contraptions, on the famous Spitfire.
According to the official description of the project, the Aeroboat will reportedly be able to reach the amazing top speed of 50 knots thanks to state of the art gearbox and final drive systems. The Aeroboat is going to be built in the UK, from locally sourced materials, to go with the British engineering and design themes. It will, according to Claydon Reeves, be manufactured from Kevlar, carbon fiber and lightweight wood veneer, while the cockpit boasts design cues from sports cars, mixed with elegant touches like a wooden dashboard and leather stitching.
Just 10 Aeroboats are going under manufacture, according to Claydon Reeves, with price tags between £2 million and £3 million. They will also be customized according to future owners’ preferences.
