When Audemars Piguet revealed the new Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar, an interpretation of the classic 1972 complication, everyone just stood there, in awe. The Royal Oak was the first luxury watch to treat stainless steel the same way as a precious metal, showing off a polished and decorated look.
A couple of days ago, the Swiss watchmaker decided to take an unexpected turn once again, by featuring the warm and brilliant tones of yellow gold on its latest timepiece, simply called the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Yellow Gold.
The self-winding watch comes with a 5134 calibre, fully visible through the glareproof sapphire crystal casebook, a movement that’s based on its predecessor, calibre 2120, which beats at 19,800 vph (2.75 Hz), although it has been adjusted to fit the updated 41 mm case.
The Grande Tapisserie decorated dial looks simply mesmerizing, while also boasting an elegant, minimalist vibe. The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Yellow Gold will come in a luxurious box together with a watch rewinding mechanism. The price for this beauty? $95,700.
