Based on Audemars Piguet elder Royal Oak, this Royal Oak Offshore Sébastien Buemi limited edition was inspired from the brand’s ambassador and Formula One driver Sébastien Buemi. The Swiss watchmaker managed to restyle the octagonal-front venerable Royal Oak, with its particular eight prominent hexagonal screws, thus creating a brand new, modern version of the 1972-presented timepiece.
The Royal Oak Offshore Sébastien Buemi bears a sporty look, with additional features that would surely entice racing drivers. The watch sports a 42 millimeter case made of lightweight titanium, rounded by a hard scratch-resistant ceramic bezel, highlighted with a vibrant yellow minute-circle.
Why yellow? Because it’s the predominant color on Buemi’s racing headgear. The rear-side of the watch features a transparent sapphire window through which the movement of the piece is visible – a Côtes de Genéve-adorned bridges movement with a 22-karat gold oscillating weight that helps winding the watch as it’s being involuntarily moved during its lifetime.
There’s also another feature that ties the watch to F1 racing – the bezel features a tachymeter which can be used to estimate object speeds over given distances. Now what remains to us is to find out more about this 250-unit limited edition timekeeper, mainly about its pricing and availability.
