Lotus keeps rolling out Exige variants and there’s nothing bad about that. Their latest is this Sport 350, meaning to over-throne the Exige S.
This new model is 51 kg lighter than its predecessor, thanks to a new louvered tailgate panel, a lighter battery, lightweight engine mounts, a new center console with the shift mechanism exposed, “optimized” sound insulation and even light pipework.
Under the bonnet, a powerful 3.5-liter V6 engine handles its business, developing 345 hp (350 PS – hence the name) and 295 lb ft of torque, thus enabling the Lotus Exige Sport 350 to reach 62 mph from standstill (0-100 km/h) in just 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 mph (274 km/h). Sounds good, right?
Other changes worth mentioning include a revised manual gearbox – although a six-speed automatic, with paddles, is also available and a new louvered tailgate for improved engine cooling, The aero-kit includes a set of firmer dampers, as well as a revised geometry, enabling the Lotus Exige Sport 350 to benefit from improved aerodynamics.
The interior now features revised switchgear for the Dynamic Performance Management system, the engine’s start button and lights switch, while new trim packs, including red or yellow Tartan, are also available upon request.
Lotus will also deliver this vehicle with new alloys, vented two-piece brake discs, black or yellow four-piston brake calipers, air-conditioning and a pretty impressive in-car entertainment system. No clue on pricing, but you should expect this ride to go on sale starting February 2016.
