The Dream Downtown Hotel in New York Really Lives Up to its Name

If you’re going to sleep somewhere in the City That Never Sleeps, it might as well be the Dream Downtown Hotel. Located in New York City’s Chelsea District, this fabulous boutique hotel is ready to receive its guests in anyone of its 316 luxurious rooms.

Originally designed for the Maritime Union in 1966, it was eventually converted into a splendid hotel, and now offers, besides the comfortable accommodations, two restaurants, rooftop and VIP lounges, outdoor pool and pool bar, a gym, event space and ground floor retail. Hinting to its maritime background, the façade is covered in pothole windows, giving the building a quite distinct look and feel.

Consistent with this theme, the glass bottom pool also has portholes of its own, allowing guests in the lobby glimpses through the water onto the outside (and the other way around, of course), connecting the two spaces in a subtle way. And speaking of design features with strikingly beautiful effects, there are two hundred hand blown glass globes floating over the lobby and the Marble Lane restaurant, filling the area with a warm light and giving it an air of distinguished elegance.
