Brugal, the well known rum brand from the Dominican Republic, has recently announced the release of a very special Papá Andrés 2015 Alegría Edition rum. That might not sound too exciting, but once you know that this is only the second rum to come out from Brugal family’s private reserve, we’re sure you will be pretty psyched.
That means the label has decided to share Brugal reserves specifically kept for the family’s special occasions, with the rest of the world. Now, that’s a treat! Continuing on with premiers, the distillery’s master blender is now a woman, Jassil Villanueva Quintana, a fifth-generation family member, whose blend was chosen to represent her great-great-grandfather Don Andrés Brugal Montaner’s legacy. It all starts to makes sense, but what about the blend?
The golden-amber-colored Papá Andrés 2015 Alegría Edition will initially hit you with a scent of fruits, followed subtly by caramel, wood, dried fruit, and traces of spice. The vanilla and sherry will finish off the unique experience, while acclaimed Spanish artist and designer Javier Mariscal is responsible for the attractive overall package; specifically, the crystal decanter’s festive flourishes and decorative box are simply beautiful. Please note that only 1,000 bottles will be available to the public, priced at $1,500 each.
