Audi has decided to write yet another beautiful chapter in the brand’s successful ‘R8’ story, with the addition of a new open-roof high-performance supercar: the Audi R8 V10 Spyder.

In terms of performances, the convertible version of the R8 continues to feature the same powerful 5.2L V10 FSI engine – available in two versions – as the second-generation of the R8 coupé, which made its debut last year at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.

However, once the lightweight cloth roof top is dropped down, the whole experience and soundtrack become way more enjoyable. The new Spyder version also offers a wider stance, compared to its coupé sibling, with accentuated wheel arches and a long back, which define a German mid-engined sports car.

The new roof weighs only 44 kilograms, which contributes to the overall performance of this convertible sports car. An electro-hydraulic drive is in charge of the soft top opening and closure, which takes only 20 seconds and can be done at speeds of up to 50 km/h.

Inside the cabin, Audi focused on the driver, allowing him (or her) to enjoy the leather steering-wheel with standard buttons for starting and stopping the engine, and for the driving dynamics system. The driver of this beauty may also benefit from two extra buttons, responsible for the performance mode and for the exhaust flap control, respectively.

The cockpit features a 12.3 inch monitor, capable of showing three screens: the classic view, the infotainment view and the performance view and sure, if you’ll ever get the chance of driving this thing you will surely forget about all its specs, and more.
