We’re pretty sure the skilled watchmakers from Jacob & Co. didn’t have Steampunk and retro vibes in mind when they came up with this beauty, but for me this watch just oozes Steampunk vibes. The American watchmaker has been constantly releasing controversial projects, and no matter how we’ve tried to describe their products, ‘boring’ has never been a word to be used.
For instance, three years ago, Jacob & Co. has impressed everyone with the gorgeous Epic SF24 travel timer watch, a unique design featuring a special retro-style flip clock display that reminded us a little bit about airports. And just a couple of days ago the company has just released on the market the new Jacob & Co. SF24 Flying Tourbillon watch, that will be available in a sizzling-hot diamond version as well.
As its name states, the new model of the Epic SF24 features a lovely flying tourbillon, that you could find at 10 o’clock, adjacent to the main dial; at 12 o’clock you will notice the Split Flip display, which allows owners to scroll through all 24 major time-zones and enjoy the brilliant craftsmanship and unique visual effects from Jacob & Co.
Powered by the Jacob & Co. caliber JCCAA03, which consists of 528 components and beats at 28,800 beats per hour, this marvelous watch benefits from a 48-hour power reserve, showing off all the usual haute horology finishes Jacob & Co. is known for, such as chamfered bridges, polished jewel sinks and sand-blasted finishing.
The SF24 Flying Tourbillon can be purchased in 3 different versions, all of them featuring 18k rose gold cases. The most expensive version – the Jacob & Co. Epic SF24 Flying Tourbillon Baguette – will impress with the aid of 79 baguette diamonds totaling 8.13 carats, that are fitted right into the case. Also worth mentioning is that this particular version will also benefit from 25 more baguette diamonds, worth 0.85 carats, set into the black lacquered dial.
The other two versions of this watch will have anthracite opaline dials – one of them being finished in a honeycomb pattern, while the other will be decorated with the names of major cities around the world. Customers will have to pay 190,000 CHF for one of 101 such units, while the Diamond version will be limited to just 18 pieces and will be priced 330,000 CHF.
