Despite the fact that there has been quite some talk about launching a budget airline, Qatar Airways has instead announced plans to launch an all-business class instead. With just 40 fully wide seats set up in rows of four, which can recline into fully flat beds and its state-of-the-art Oryx entertainment system with big screens and over 900 movies, TV shows and video games to choose from, this particular Airbus A319 jet is set to be as comfortable as it gets for its select group of passengers. They will also have access to the SMS mobile texting GSM and GPRS service available on board, ideal for a true VIP experience.
The new service is set to launch in May 2014, and will bring the total number daily flights between Doha and London’s Heathrow Airport to five.
With this new addition, Qatar Airlines will become the first Middle Eastern airline to offer its customers an all-business class airplane. Whether it will turn out to be feasible however remains to be seen, with similar endeavors either being canceled (like Singapore Airline’s flight from Newark to Singapore) or never taking off at all (see Silverjet, the all-business class airline).
