Mercedes has officially unveiled a couple of days ago the new SL 65 AMG 45th Enniversary Edition, a limited edition car that’s going to be released on the market in September. The aim of the SL 65 AMG is to be the “ultimate” roadster, this particular model boasting exclusive “designo magno” graphite paint plus carbon fiber trims on the spoilers and mirrors.
The same lightweight material has been used to cover the engine, along with aluminum, while the car also features AMG wheels with titanium grey finish and sports exhaust system. The interior of the vehicle includes one of a kind leather seats, alloy pedals and matte carbon fiber trim.
A commemorative plate has been added to the central console, upon which one can read “45th ANNIVERSARY – X OF 45.” Additional upgrades are the Airscarf seats, COMAND online infotainment system as well as a state of the art Bang & Olufsen audio system.
The technical part is our fetish though. The bonnet hides a 6.0-liter biturbo V12 engine that delivers no less than 621 HP (463 kW) as well as a mind-boggling 1,000 Nm (737 lb ft) of torque. All this humongous power reaches the wheels via an AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission.
All the 1,950 kg (4,300 lb) of the car get from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a whopping 4 seconds, allowing it to reach a limited maximum speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Its fuel consumption is weirdly low, though, of just 11.9 L / 100 km, emitting 270g of CO2 per kilometer.
It’s now a bit too early to receive any pricing information, but we do know the series will sadly feature only 45 units.
