The luxury vessel we’re going to feature today is the 32 meter – 105 feet – Pendennis Akalam, a sailing yacht built to the highest standards by Pendennis and designed by Barracuda Yacht Design. It’s made almost entirely of fine materials like aluminum and carbon fiber.

Painted in graphite black, with a cream superstructure and carbon rig to match, the yacht instantly boasts with its elegance and luxury. The boarding place, the lavish aft deck area, spreads over a massive 60 square meters of deck. It is topped by superb furnishings and intriguing arrangements rather resembling the style of a large superyacht than the one of a sailing yacht.

The rear of the pilot’s cabin is tied to a set of twin helm stations, thus the crew can handle the vessel without having to disturb those lounging in the sociable aft deck area.

Heading forward, towards the main saloon, we have to pass through a superb, elegant curved glass door signed Rondal which, at the flick of a switch, can turn opaque from completely transparent through LED technology. The interior comes with an almost natural capability to do without decorations, thanks to the impressive number of glass elements it boasts with. Thanks to these, guests can enjoy 360 degrees panoramas from virtually anywhere on the sailing yacht.

The interior design, bearing the mark of Javier Muñoz, was created in such a way that it simply resembles a sophisticated apartment, thanks to the beautiful contrasts between the light sycamore, the dark grey tinted Zebrano, panga woods and a few touches of olive. A spiral staircase leads the way down from the rear of the pilothouse towards two almost identical twin bed en suite guest cabins and finally towards the owner’s suite.

The technology integrated within the vessel is as advanced as it is its design. Based on user friendliness, the Akalam is fitted with a JP3 steering system, equipped with self tacking jib, remote control winch and line handling, and rudder and stock entirely crafted from carbon.

The Barcelona-based SPIN has introduced a full onboard control system which surveys many of the yacht’s mains and functions, up to the control of the stern and bow thrusters. Thus, this magnificent vessel can take extremely sharp turns in tight spaces via joystick. Additionally, to increase the vessel’s performance, the draught can vary between 3.6 meters and 5.5 meters thanks to the retractable dagger-board.

It also gives the boat the ability to cruise among shallow waters or to lay anchor as close to shore as possible. The power plant is a 610 HP MAN diesel booster which can propel the vessel with speeds of up to 13.5 knots. Isn’t this machine simply staggering?
