Montblanc has created a series of timepieces celebrating the achievements of Vasco da Gama, a Portuguese explorer who was the first European to reach India by sea, in the late 15th century. We’ve already presented the exquisite Villeret Tourbillon Cylindrique Geosphères, now it’s time to showcase another similarly stunning timepiece called the Heritage Chronometrie ExoTourbillon Chronograph.
The highly exclusive wristwatch comes with a 44 mm case fashioned from 18-carat white gold and houses the automatic mechanical Montblanc Cal MB230 movement, featuring the one-minute patented ExoTourbillon with stop-second mechanism, quick-set hours, single-pusher chronograph with column-wheel and vertical coupling, and beating at 21,600 vph.
The watch’s most striking feature is, of course, the gorgeous dial. It is made from aventurine and is adorned with a diamond inset at 12 o’clock shaped like the iconic Montblanc star. Also, the sub-dial located just inside of the 31-day date ring has a special blue patterned finish to it. On the opposite side, the caseback displays an image of the Sao Gabriel, Vasco da Gama’s flagship during his momentous first voyage to India.
The Montblanc Heritage Chronometrie ExoTourbillon Chronograph ‘Vasco da Gama’ limited edition timepiece collection includes just 60 watches.
