Shortly after being officially announced, the McLaren 570S Coupe made its debut during the New York Auto Show.
The newest addition to the British carmaker’s lineup is also the first release of the Sports Series range, and features the same V8 3.8-liter engine we have seen before on some of its predecessors. Nevertheless, one third of the motors is made using new components, which means it now outputs 570 HP (419 kW) at 7,400 rpm and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) between 5,000 rpm and 6,500 rpm, which is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed SSG. This allows the 2,895 pound (1,313 kg) vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 3.2 seconds, with 9.5 seconds necessary to reach 124 mph (200 km/h), before reaching a maximum speed of 204 mph (328 km/h).
The new McLaren also gets a newly-developed front and rear suspension with adaptive dampers, front & rear anti-rollbars and double wishbones, and sits on 19-inch front & 20-inch rear alloy wheels wrapped around in 225/35/R19 front & 285/35/R20 rear Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires. Meanwhile, stopping power is provided by standard carbon ceramic brakes.
Inside the cabin we immediately notice a new TFT digital instrument cluster and a seven-inch IRIS touchscreen system integrating all climate controls, while also providing access to Bluetooth, DAB digital radio, and SIRIUS satellite radio. As extra options, customers can order Alcantara and Nappa leather upholsteries, a carbon fiber trim, a superior eight-speaker sound system, and a 12-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system with 1,280-watt of power.
