Independent Swiss watchmaker Christophe Claret has just released his first ever watch created especially for women, calling it Margot.
The exquisite timepiece features an extremely complicated 731-component movement reviving that old childhood game of “he loves me, he loves me not”. At the center of the dial there is a daisy with twelve petals and each pressing of the upper pusher causes one of the petals to slide under the dial, randomly selecting a phrase to be displayed below. When all the petals are gone, the girl “knows” how the boy feels about her. (Keep in mind that the French version of the game is a bit more complicated that what you might be used to, with 12 possible response combinations.)
As you could probably tell, the Margot’s overall theme is a floral one. The center of the daisy is a uniquely cut yellow sapphire crystal, while pear-cut diamonds decorate the dial. Not only that, but even the hands themselves look a bit like stamens and are tipped in gold. The case is relatively large, at 42.5 mm in diameter and 14.52 mm thick, but all in all, it’s really too beautiful and unique to hold something like that against it.
Three models of the Margot have been released, with only 20 pieces in each version to be produced. Prices vary between 198,000 Swiss Francs (about $220,000) and 278,000 Swiss Francs (about $310,000).
