Flor de Caña is celebrating its 135th anniversary with a special release that carries the weight of three and a half decades in the barrel.

The extraordinary 35 Year Rum appears without any drama: just a deep, steady presence that comes from age handled correctly. Nothing about it rushes.

The anniversary could have invited extravagance. Instead, the premium rum brand chose patience as the centerpiece.

A Century-Spanning Lineage

The Pellas family have been running Flor de Caña since 1890.

Five generations have shaped the Nicaraguan rum distillery with the sort of long-view thinking that rarely survives in modern spirits.

Each release sits on the shoulders of decades, and the special 35 Year release rises to the top of that story with quiet authority.

A Spirit Formed by Its Environment

The rum spent thirty-five years aging in Nicaragua, between the San Cristóbal volcano and the Pacific.

That location is not only extremely beautiful, but it also leaves its signature on the barrel year after year. Tropical heat drives the spirit deeper into the oak. Volcanic soil adds a distinct richness. Pacific winds temper the process whenever the climate wants to overstep.

After so long, the result carries a kind of gravity. Depth built one season at a time.

Flor de Caña has committed itself to responsible production for years. This 35-year aged rum continues that approach without staging it as a spectacle. Natural aging, clean practices, and minimal interference remain the foundation.

A Release Measured in Hundreds

Only 350 decanters of the Flor de Caña 35 Year will be available globally, with each bottle having 700ml and including a numbered certificate to mark this special occasion and its exclusivity .

It’s priced at $4,000 but we’re sure this release will move quickly into the hands of collectors who prefer to choose carefully rather than impulsively. The number gives the bottle a certain calm rarity, it’s small enough to matter, but not so small that it only turns into a rumor.

The crystal decanter carries ridged lines inspired by San Cristóbal’s spectacular landscape. Light hits those edges in a way that sharpens the rum’s golden tone. The stopper is carved from obsidian, a direct nod to the volcanic landscape as well.

Its weight surprises you when you lift it. A leather neck wrap adds a grounded texture, and the wooden case (engraved with regional plant motifs), extends the theme with fine craftsmanship.

Nothing is ornamental for the sake of ornament. Every detail sits exactly where it belongs.

A Smaller Edition with Its Own Appeal

There’s also a smaller 100ml version that accompanies the main release, and it’s priced at $630. It arrives in a royal green case that opens with a restrained sense of ceremony. Collectors will probably pick it up for its charm and its portability, and possibly keep it where they can see it every day.

A modest size, but no hint of compromise.

Why the Flor de Caña 35 Year Stands Out?

The extraordinary 35 Year Rum is a statement of everything Flor de Caña has learned across 135 years: heritage, land, discipline, and an unusually steady commitment to time. The bottle wasn’t released with theatrics or forced storytelling. Its design and age speak on their own.

Some releases come and go with a burst of noise. This one steps into the world with a slower, more deliberate rhythm, and leaves a lasting impression because of it.
