Yamaha has unveiled 2015 versions of its flagship models: the YZF-R1 and the YZF-R1M.

Firstly, the R1 comes with an inline 4-cylinder, 998cc engine, similar to its predecessors, capable of churning out a massive 200 horsepower and 112.4 Nm (82.9 lbs-ft) of torque. Touted by Yamaha as “the most MotoGP-inspired motorcycle ever”, the bike features a whole host of advanced electronics, including a six-axis “Inertial Measurement Unit” (IMU) that uses gyros and accelerometers to measure pitch, roll, yaw, and acceleration. This system, together with the Yamaha Ride Control ECU, allows for many possible handling tweaks, , including adjustable and user-programmable power delivery modes, lean angle sensitive traction control, and full-throttle launch control.

Secondly, the R1M boasts a few extra features compared to the previously mentioned model: there’s plenty of carbon fiber, a fully electronic, active Ohlins suspension which works together with the IMU, and a data-logging GPS system that uses Wi-Fi and an iOS or Android app to provide riders with all the information they need about the track season they have just completed.

The 2015 Yamaha YZF-R1 comes with a price tag of $16,490, while the YZF-R1M would set you back $21,990.
