Located on an secluded island three miles away from the northeastern tip of Zanzibar, off the Tanzanian coast, basking in the majesty of the Indian Ocean, the Mnemba Island Lodge is an exquisite equatorial paradise, superbly put together to fit the tastes of the most discerning customers.

The island can be visited through tours especially organized by the resort’s staff. They are able to provide a quick boat ride towards the larger island. In order to get to Zanzibar, guests will need to fly towards Zanzibar International Airport, then take a chauffeured drive which lasts around an hour and a half, and then a 20 minute boat ride.

It may not be the most easily accessible place in the world, but the things that await you at Mnemba Island Lodge are truly worth the bother. Comprising as little as 10 guest cottages, the resort’s exclusivity is enhanced by the pristine white sand of the beaches and the superb palm trees which can be admired all around. As for the ocean water, it is crystal clear, warm, gorgeously radiating azure tones and packed with coral reefs.

If all these weren’t exclusive enough, green turtles nest here, therefore the island is a protected corner of wildlife. Offshore, humpback whales playfully roam the waters of the Indian Ocean, alongside whale sharks and a plethora of dolphin species.

If you dive deeper, a different world unveils, a world of corals, reefs, fish and all sorts of tropical animals – this is one hell of a reason for you to take your scuba diving or snorkeling gear along. Although such a superb wildlife is entirely not tiresome, guests can also practice their swimming skills, fishing or simply wander around the areas.

If tiredness comes into picture, Mnemba Island Lodge provides 10 woven-palm-mat bandas. Each of these is nicely hidden under tropical greenery and boasts with verandas and breathtaking ocean views. I know having fun and sleeping just isn’t enough – people also need to eat in order to replenish their lost energy. In this particular case, guests can enjoy freshly gathered fruit and freshly caught fish and lobster. Yummy!

Due to the fact that Mnemba Island Lodge‘s main attribute is exclusivity, followed by luxury, nightly rates are quite expensive, starting at $2,200.
