What you’re looking at right now is actually an interesting collaboration between the renowned Australian designer Marc Newson, legendary luxury brand Montblanc and our friends from HODINKEE, a unique partnership that resulted in this exquisite Montblanc M Pen.

Montblanc, as a top-tier producer of some of the world’s finest writing instruments, also produces a range of bespoke leather goods, jewelry, eyewear, and, of course, fine timepieces, but they’re usually going for classic designs, with an incredible attention to detail and eye catching looks.

That’s why we’re a bit surprised to see this modern take on luxury writing instruments, benefiting from Marc Newson’s creativity and unique approach to design. The star designer has imagined the Montblanc M pen featuring a gorgeous mix of fluid lines and sloping curves, and to us it’s no wonder Apple wanted him as well.

The M Pen is one Newson’s most simple and beautiful creations, featuring a polished black resin case which had to be shaped using a diamond tool. Moreover, the Montblanc emblem has been welded ultrasonically at the top of the cap and the end of the barrel, while the forepart of the pen has been ruthenium-plated, adding weight to balance out the whole piece.

Combining beautiful aesthetics with functionality, the Montblanc M pen also shows off another cool feature, specifically the alignment of the clip with the “plateau” at the end of the barrel. Please note that each Montblanc M pen will come with a co-branded HODINKEE and Montblanc pen pouch – all for just $500. But you need to hurry up, since there are only 100 pieces available.
