Ferrari J50

Wow, talk about a pleasant surprise! No one knew about Ferrari’s surprising project, but the secret is now finally in the open. Revealed at the National Art Center in Tokyo., the Ferrari J50 was specially designed to honor the 50th anniversary of Ferrari’s presence in Japan.

This incredible supercar is based on the 488 Spider and it’s apparently going to be produced in a very, very limited run of just 10 units, so you could easily say this is a collectible already. Created by the company’s Special Projects department and the guys from the Ferrari Styling Center, this ravishing four wheel masterpiece marks the return to the targa body style, reminiscent of iconic Ferrari models from the 1970s and 1980s.

The Ferrari J50 also shows off a pair of carbon fiber targa panels, that stow behind the rear seats, which seem to complement the beautiful look of this beast.

The newest Ferrari also adopted a futuristic design language, matched by a more aggressive front end, with slim horizontal LED headlights, and many other interesting little details, like a black dividing line, which stretches into the side air vents, and reminds us all of the GTO, F40, and F50 – how could we not like that?

Two twin taillights on each side, a new rear diffuser inspired by jet engine afterburners and a super cool set of arch-filling 20-inch alloys are also on display, while the cabin has been retouched as well, with new trim and a stunning red and black color scheme covering fine leather and Alcantara details.

Since this new Ferrari J50 is based on the 488, the car is powered by the company’s well-known 3.9-liter V8 twin-turbo, developing an astonishing 690 PS (680 HP), but we still have to wait for official performance figures. This thing can’t be boring, that’s for sure, and even though we probably won’t have the privilege of owning one.. we could only hope we’ll get to see one live.
